If the price rises to £15, I can then sell my stock for a profit of £5 per share. If I believe the share price is going to rise, I’ll simply buy shares at £10. Let’s say StuffCo (a made-up company) has a share price of £10. It’s a way of making money by betting that a company’s share price will fall. Trust me when I say there is much more that happens and the game doesn't occur only in the court room.Īnyways, this is my public service announcement. But a good place to start is by understanding what short-selling is – and how the Wall Street wizards who do it could end up being wrong-footed by a group of amateur traders. The video linked is spoiler free and goes through just the first day, and doesn't cover all of the gameplay involved. There's several other videos thehistoricalgamer has made, he seems to be the only decently followed youtuber really covering this game. I've never before seriously reviewed a game here on Steam, but this game deserves it, and I wish for success on this title. I can only hope this developer continues forward and builds off this wonderful game. While I haven't finished the story, I have absolutely no problem strongly recommending this game. The story is fun and interesting, you can't ask for a better setting for this type of game, and this game is clearly a labor of love. ![]() My god though is it enjoyable if that's up your alley. You're going to be reading a lot of text, and mostly making decisions that effect the game state. Please note that the gameplay is very barebones. Overall, I've found the game extremely enjoyable, and a true hidden gem that deserves more publicity. And of course there are various aristocratic defendants who are guilty of nothing than being born in the wrong place at the wrong time. Sure, you can justly send them to prison or even execute them, But almost everyone will be displeased. You'll judge men who are clearly guilty of rape, burglary, and various other crimes, but are common folk sympathetic to the revolution. The cases are wide and varied, and increasingly more political. In the meantime, there are figures plotting against you as well, and after judging during the day you find yourself fighting a clandestine opinion and political campaign at night, trying to gain influence over the people and defeat machinations and rumors aiming to discredit you and make you a target of the revolution. Thus you find yourself in a precarious balancing act. Rarely do each of these groups want the same punishment. Your verdict will have various effects on the opinions of the common people, revolutionary factions, the jury itself if you ignore their wishes, and the prosecutor. ![]() The cases that come before you are varied and have wide ranging consequences. Taking the role of a judge in Revolutionary France, just as the National Convention is elected into place and the Reign of Terror is imminent. If you don't, your head is going to be rolling off the guillotine in no time. Which, this game is probably one of the better political simulators I've ever played, as you're truly trying to win friends and influence people. ![]() Decisions aren't obvious and it's bloody hard work manipulating people and playing at politics. Which is not to say the game isn't difficult. This is a very unique game, clearly inspired by Papers Please, but thankfully for me without the frenetic pace with which you make decisions at. I think this is fully within the rules as far as I read them, and if not I'll edit it to make it so. Below is a copy of a steam review I left for it, as well as some links and videos that show the game a bit. So allow me to attempt to introduce and intrigue this sub about it, and at least make people aware of it. It's an understated game, but it is so good and enjoyable, and I think it'd be a shame if this game just flew under everyones radar. As a result, I kind of feel for these developers. This sub had one thread about it, two years ago when first announced. I then went on Reddit to check out discussion and found. Revolutionary France setting? Playing as a judge during the National Convention and Reign of Terror? Pretty gorgeous art? There was no price listed so I waited for today, got up, saw it was a pretty reasonable 18 bucks, and gave it a try to see if it was worth it. I saw this game in the Steam upcoming page a few days ago and was intrigued.
